Sustainable Development Goals at KNUCA

Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts (KNUCA) is committed to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and integrating sustainability principles into its educational, research, artistic, international, and community engagement activities.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals provide a global framework for addressing social, economic, environmental, and cultural challenges while promoting prosperity, inclusion, innovation, and sustainable development for present and future generations.

As one of Ukraine’s leading universities in the fields of culture, KNUCA considers sustainability an integral part of its mission and institutional development.

A distinctive contribution of KNUCA lies in the preservation, study, promotion, and digital transformation of Ukrainian cultural heritage. Through educational programmes, research activities, artistic projects, international cooperation, and public engagement initiatives, the university supports cultural diversity, strengthens national cultural identity, and promotes culture as a key driver of sustainable development.

The university advances the SDGs through:

  • providing high-quality education and professional training;
  • supporting research, innovation, and digital transformation;
  • preserving and promoting Ukraine’s cultural heritage;
  • implementing cultural, artistic, social, and volunteer projects;
  • fostering academic integrity and ethical standards;

In accordance with Ukraine’s Sustainable Development Goals through 2030 and national strategic priorities, KNUCA continuously integrates sustainability principles across all areas of its activities.

Sustainable Development Goals at KNUCA: Institutional Policies and Implementation

Sustainability Working Group

In February 2026, Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts established a Working Group for the Integration of Sustainable Development Principles into University Activities by an Order of the Acting President.

The Working Group was established to support the systematic integration of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals into the University’s educational, research, innovation, creative and artistic, and governance activities. It is chaired by the Vice President for Research and International Affairs and includes representatives of the University leadership, academic and research units, quality assurance, financial and administrative services, technical infrastructure, student self-government, the Social and Psychological Centre, and institutional communications.

The main responsibilities of the Working Group include:

  • developing a conceptual framework for integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into University activities;
  • assessing the current implementation of sustainable development principles;
  • preparing proposals for strategic and operational measures;
  • supporting interdisciplinary educational and research initiatives;
  • monitoring and coordinating measures aimed at achieving the SDGs;
  • preparing analytical materials and recommendations for the University leadership.

The cross-functional composition of the Working Group supports university-wide coordination and the development of a systematic institutional approach to sustainability and SDG implementation.
